Tomás Jesús Ocaña González (Málaga, Spain) has studied Clarinet and Composition at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Málaga. He has trained with the clarinetists Faly García and Carlos Gil, and in the field of composition his most important teachers have been Diana Pérez Custodio and Abel Paul López. He is currently studying a Master of Composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt with Prof. Orm Finnendahl and Prof. Ulrich Kreppein, supported by one of the Scholarships “Becas Talento” offered by Fundación Málaga and one of the “Deutschlandstipendium” Scholarships granted by the German government.
Among his most important awards are the 1st prize “Xavier Montsalvatge” in the XXXII SGAE-CNDM Young Composers Award (2021), the selection as resident composer of Juventudes Musicales España during the 22/23 season or the recognition of excellence 2023 in the Superior Artistic Education in Music at the proposal of the Superior Conservatory of Music from Malaga.
He has participated in the Lions International Exchange program in various parts of the world such as Austria, Wisconsin and Hong Kong, in addition to completing an artistic residency with the Spanish Embassy and the DC Strings Orchestra in Washington DC at the end of 2023.
